RFA member of the Register of Interest representatives at the European Commisison.

May 12, 2009

The RFA is now a member of the Register of Interest representatives at
the European Commisison!
By opening this voluntary Register, in the context of the European
Transparency Initiative, the European Commission wishes to let citizens
know which general or specific interests are influencing the
decision-making process of the European Institutions and the resources
mobilized to that end. Doing this, the RFA will have the opportunity to
demonstrate its strong commitment to transparency and the full
legitimacy of its activities.
This is a significant step forward in term of recognition and
credibility of our organization. In other words, the RFA is now part of
the stakeholders that have legitimacy in improving the decision-making
initiatives of the European Commission. The RFA is registered into the
following fields:
- Fisheries & Aquaculture
- Food Safety
- Consumer affairs
- Environment
- Development

Did you know?

According to numerous studies conducted by independent research organizations, artisanal fishing requires much less energy (diesel) than industrial fishing for the same amount of catches. For example, to fish 1 kg of cod in Iceland, artisanal fishing uses 2 to 5 times less fuel than industrial fishing. You can purchase frozen fish fillets from artisanal fisheries in its range of ‘responsible fishing’ products at Carrefour’s. Source: A. Bogason, B. Corréard, FCS study for RFA, 2008.
